Do you have a Windows DVD? If so, try pressing F8 over and over when you get to the Dell screen. (it is either F8 or F12, if one doesn\'t work then try the other). This should take you to a menu where you can choose the boot order. If you put in the Windows DVD and then make that the highest in the order of boot preference then when you reboot the DVD will run and you should get options to reinstall or repair Windows.

If you don\'t have a DVD or a DVD driver you can make a Boot Disk USB following this really well written article by Time from About.com: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/a/install-windows-7-usb.htm

Hi Allan,

You can create and use a Bootable USB flash drive to install Windows 7 on your PC. The process of creating a Bootable windows 7 USB flash drive is fairly easy, however you will have to download a copy of windows 7 ISO file.

Microsoft provides Windows 7 ISO images as free downloads to the public. You can download Windows 7 iso images from here and Once you have downloaded a Windows 7 ISo file, you can then follow the instructions provided below to create a Bootable windows 7 USB flash drive.

1. Download Rufus and run it with Administrator rights.

  • Step 2: Select “ Select MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI “ ( Note: If your PC has UEFI bios, select the other two options. )
  • Step 3: Select NTFS for File system. ( Note: Select FAT32 if your PC UEFI bios. )
  • Step 4: Select the default Cluster size.
  • Step 5: Type in a name for the Bootable USB Flash Drive.

  2. Create a Bootable disk using.

That’s it, now you’ll just have to wait for a couple minutes more and the Windows 7 Bootable USB Flash Drive should be ready for installing Windows 7 on your PC.
After a few minutes your Windows 7 Bootable USB flash drive will be ready for installation. Reboot your PC and set the bootable flash drive as a first boot priority in the bios settings. Save the bios settings and reboot once again to continue with the windows 7 installation process.

If you want to create a DVD for installation disk, then you can follow the below steps:

The source directory should include all files copied from Windows 7 disc, which looks like follows.

1. Start PowerISO.
2. Click "Add" button to add all files and folders under the source directory to current compilation.

3. Click the menu, "Action --> Boot --> Add Boot Information...", and select etfsboot.com, then click "OK" to add it as boot file. 'etfsboot.com' can be found in the boot folder under the source directory.

4. Insert a blank DVD disc in the writer, then click "Burn" button on toolbar to burn the current compilation to the disc.

If no errors occurred in the above process, you should now get a new Windows 7 installation disc.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Lokesh
