The problem happened a few hours ago, after I had been working on the file. The file is about 13 pages. Had just saved the file and crossed out the word. Should send the file over email, but when I pressed "insert file" in hotmail, I did not file. Can not find it any place, either with spotlight or finder. Does not look like it is on my mac at all.

I used Disk Drill when I lost my Master's thesis How to recover word document mac
It was pretty good. If you have Mac it makes sense to download a Pro version. It has a cool tool - defense against unexpected data loss. It might save your time and efforts in future.

Hi,

Try to search for it in the Finder.
If you know the name of the file
  • Go to the Finder and open the HD icon in your desktop
  • Press Command F (for Find)
  • Next to Search, select "This Mac" and "File Name"
  • In the Search for field, type part of the file name
  • Read through the list to identify your file
Alternative search by date
  • Go to the Finder and open the HD icon in your desktop
  • Press Command F (for Find)
  • Next to Search, select "This Mac"
  • Click on the first dropdown menu and select Last modified date
  • Click on the second dropdown menu and select within last
  • Click on the blank field and type 1 (the search operation will start at this point)
  • Make sure the third dropdown menu says Days
  • In the main menu bar, select View > Show view options and enable Date Modified
  • In the search results window, click on the title Date Modified to sort files by date
  • Read through the list to identify your file.
If the above doesn't work:

By default, Word for Mac saves all the AutoRecovery files in the following folder location: Macintosh HD/Users/username/Documents/Microsoft User Data

I hope you will find your file by following the above steps.

Regards,
Lokesh

Hey Synnøve, If you have previously saved Word file, you should find the file at the following locations on your Mac: 1 Go to the Finder, select Go Go to Folder, type / private / var / folders and look for files named \ "Word work file \" a \ "Temporary Items \" - folder. We recommend that you move files and folders on your desktop before opening the Word. 2 If you have AutoRecover (Auto Recovery) enabled in Word, you can find it here: Users / * your username * / Library / Application Support / Microsoft / Office / Office 2011 Auto Recovery / When you find the file or document you are looking for, you can double-click the file and open it in Word. If you are using Microsoft Word, there is a function for returning the document. You can get to it by going to \ "File \" then \ "Modern \" and you will see the option at the bottom of the windows to \ "Recovering unsaved documents \". Try to use the function if the file is there. Here is a picture of what this looks like in Windows: http://cl.ly/image/4420452k0y0Y

I kept getting the blue screen with Driver Power State Failure error message and then my computer would restart. I found your product and it did not happen any more. I just purchased an anti-virus (kaspersky) and now it is doing it again. It is so frustrating. My computer is only 6 months old. It is a Asus desktop.
