Hi Mason,

Picasa is a software download from Google, that helps you organize, edit, and share your photos. The local application usage and the online storage up to 1 GB is free, and it is easy to use.

Here are some alternatives to Picassa:

1. ACDSee 20
It is a powerful desktop photo organizer that vastly improves upon the editing and management features available in Picasa. With ACDSee, there is no need to import your photo collection; it's all right there on your hard drive, and you have full control of the navigation and organization.

ACDSee has all the great tools you've come to love, like cropping, slideshow creation, blemish repair, red eye correction, album categorization, and text controls. In addition to these classic features, ACDSee 20 adds an impressive variety of additional features like light equalization, lighting/exposure controls, special effects, vignetting, sharpen/blur tools, metadata, and so much more.

You can also create flash movies with your photos, and it makes sharing your photos/videos a breeze. Apart from pictures, it will also manage your videos and offer few video editing tools as well.

3. IrfanView
IrfanView is an incredibly simple photo organising tool that is light with a simple to navigate interface. However, behind its simple interface, it hides some amazing professional features perfect for professional photographers. The tool focus on both photo organising, and photo editing, so you will find loads of features for both purposes.

Its editing features include annotation, Multipage TIF editing, colour depth, enhance, IPTC editing, effects and filters, lossless rotation and much more. The tools are also very customizable with support for hundreds of formats, you can change skins, change preview, search files with a simple keyword, directory view, Adobe Photoshop filters support, print option, overlay images and support for the media player, etc.
It also comes with a big list of plugins that add tonnes of different features, like burning slideshows, email support, face detects, filters, metadata and more.

4. FastStone Image Viewer
FastStone Image Viewer is a fast, stable, user-friendly image browser, converter and editor. It has a nice array of features that include image viewing, management, comparison, red-eye removal, emailing, resizing, cropping, retouching and color adjustments.

Hi Mason,

Thank you for posting your concern’s here.

I am sorry to hear about the Picasa problem you are experiencing.

I would like to suggest few alternative softwares below.
  • Google Photos
Google has ended the update service for Picasa and if you want to have a more reliable and updated photo organizer, I highly recommend you to switch to Google photos.
Here’s Google photo’s link: https://photos.goog...
  • Phototheca 2
While other services are pretty useful and reliable, including Google photo’s, you always have an option to choose Phototheca 2. This software is an easy to use one and could sort thousand of images for you.

  •  Windows Live Photo Gallery
When it comes to editing and organizing your photo’s or want to share it online, you can choose Windows Live Photo Gallery. One of the easy to use software and also have a good name on the market.

I hope this helps you with your concern.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.
